The way we work

It all started several hundred years ago with the rich finds of iron ore in the Industrial region of Bergslagen, in Sweden. Around the mines a whole industrial region started to grow based on turning the iron into worldclass steel and steel products.

Today, the Industrial region of Bergslagen is a strong cluster of steel based companies of all types, from the mills of SSAB and Sandvik to the hundreds of small and mid-sized businesses that use the steel in their own products or deliver specialized services to the large steel producers.

Typical examples include new methods of working, such as roll forming and hydro forming of steel. Other areas are various services related to steel production, such as process control, maintenance services or environmental work. The combined competence and resources of all these companies is provided according to the motto used by ”The three musketeers”: One for all, and all for one.

Information and experience is freely exchanged between the companies. A formal or informal network can always be created in order to handle any type and size of order. This flexibility makes Bergslagen quite unique in the world as a place to find subcontractors or suppliers of specialized products and services.

The local cooperation is often carried out with the help from Triple Steelix, an innovation system that plays an important role in the development of the steel related companies in the Industrial region of Bergslagen. Through Triple Steelix small and midsized companies in the region have access to a vast pool of external resources for research and product development, including research facilities and competence from universities and institutes of technology in Sweden.
