The initiative for development of the industrial region ,into the innovation system Triple Steelix, was taken by Jernkontoret, the Swedish Steel Producers’ Association.
The Swedish tradition of consensus building in public life has worked in the steel industry too: co-operation between operators in certain cases has sharpened the industry's competitive edge internationally.
This strategy appears to be bearing fruit - indeed Sweden's steel industry can justifiably claim to be the most specialised and export-orientated in Europe.
