Kjell Grundström, from the wind power project and Triple Steelix, said that wind power in Bergslagen is still in its infancy, but today there are 87 turbines in Dalarna, with plans for 1,500 in the region.

A single wind turbine is worth about SEK 25 million. Now it’s up to us to see how we can benefit from this. We have a solid background in operations and maintenance, thanks to our heavy industries. That’s where we can come in. After three to five years the market will be open for long-term operational maintenance, and we want to help those who want to be part of this development. There’s also room for production of components.

Kjell also told about plans for a pilot plant at Främby point outside Falun, which will produce electricity from sun and wind. A new adult education course is starting this autumn: “Maintenance Technician - Wind Power”.
