           is globally leading within a number of specialized niche 
           products, and is exporting 80 % of the total production.
           This has been achieved due to the development of
           advanced steel products in close cooperation with
           customers all over the world.

The Triple Steelix cluster consists of about 700 SME’s, 7 steel producing companies and manufacturers of mechanical equipment.
 

Public Sector

The Triple Steelix cluster consist of 13 municipalities, regional actors as IUC Dalarna, Region Dalarna and MittDalarna
 

Universities/RnD

The Triple Steelix cluster consist of Dalarna University, University in Gävle, University of Eskilstuna and Västerås and MIKRAB (research institute).

VINNOVA

Triple Steelix one of five vinners of VINNVÄXT 2004


VINNVÄXT is a programme within VINNOVA that takes the form of a competition for regions. The aim is to promote sustainable growth by developing internationally competitive research and innovation environments in specific growth fields.

The winning regions will receive funding of up to SEK 10 million per year for a period of 10 years. The objective is that the winners will become internationally competitive in their respective fields within this period.

A prerequisite for the programme is the active participation of players from the private, public and research sectors and from the political sphere.

VINNVÄXT also comprises a number of support activities such as seminars, training/education, the exchange of experience and the extension of knowledge/research. The programme began in 2001. Three winners were selected in 2003 and five in 2004.
