• SSAB and Hexicon in agreement to develop floating platforms for wind power

    SSAB is entering into an agreement with Hexicon AB to develop far off shore platforms. The combined technology will offer advantages within the market for renewable energy. A first demonstration unit is planned for Swedish waters in 2017.
    Hexicon will together with SSAB optimize the steel material in the foundation of the wind platforms to ensure functionality and cost effective solutions during their complete life cycle.

  • Ovako saves on energy

    Ovako is working towards using energy in the right way with new, red-hot research. It turns out that it’s the little things that make a big difference.

    Research at Ovako’s annealing furnaces in Hofors will answer questions about optimal operation in terms of energy use and material quality.

    “It’s important to see the significance of all the parameters and realise what is important for optimisation,” says Mersedeh Ghadamgahi, a graduate student at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm and from Ovako in Hofors.
